Our Mission
The mission of Soles4Orphans is to bring a smile, love, and dignity to every orphan and child through a simple gift of shoes.
How We Began
In the summer of 2007, Paulina Nguyen, founder of Soles4Orphans, and her family visited Vietnam for the first time. She visited an orphanage in Ho Chi Minh City called Tam Binh which is the only orphanage in the country that houses children affected by HIV and/or AIDS. During this visit, she donated school supplies for 100 orphans. While at the orphanage, Paulina was touched by the communal living conditions and how simple gifts brought smiles to the children’s faces. She also realized that many children’s feet had calluses from walking barefoot. She also witnessed many young children on the street selling food and souvenirs to tourists without any shoes. “There must be something I can do to help these children”, Paulina said. Upon returning to the U.S., an organization called Soles4Souls inspired her to bring their idea of giving shoes to the orphans in Vietnam. Soles4Souls (www.soles4souls.org) is an organization that began after the Asian tsunami to help the victims by giving them shoes. This organization continued to help victims of Hurricane Katrina and has now donated millions of shoes throughout the world. |

Paulina Nguyen, founder of Soles4Orphans is a senior in high school at Santa Catalina school in Monterey, California. She is of Vietnamese descent, having both parents born and raised in Vietnam. For as long as she can remember, Paulina has had a closeness and compassion for children in particular. Much of her spare time has been spent with children including Sunday school teachings, youth camp leader, and volunteering for school fundraisers. Her mission for Soles4Orphans truly exemplifies her unconditional commitment to making a difference in the lives of theses unfortunate orphans. Soles4Orphans was created from Paulina’s dedication and passion in serving the children of her homeland.
